Mr. Gerhardt is a versatile urban and environmental planner with nearly 28 years of experience in the creation of innovative planning documents, development entitlement, environmental impact analysis, and urban revitalization as both a planning consultant and public-sector planner. Project experience ranges from the preparation of General Plans for entire communities to Specific Plans for downtowns, corridors, and neighborhoods, and major in-fill development projects, healthy and sustainable community strategies, mobility and bicycle master plans, and management of historic structures, and revision of zoning codes and other related municipal ordinances. Recent focus has been on creating healthier and more sustainable communities in the City of Long Beach.

David Khorram, is the Superintendent of Building and Safety/Building Official for the City of Long Beach's Department of Development Services.
As Superintendent, Mr. Khorram oversees all division-related functions, to include administration of the public counter, code enforcement and inspection services, engineering and plan check, as well as service local owners, community groups and designers.
Mr. Khorram is a California licensed civil engineer with nearly 30 years of varied Community Development and Public Works experience with extensive experience working with real estate and development companies on project planning and feasibility. Most recently he served as the Chief Building Official for the City of Orange for near 7 1/2 years. Mr. Khorram is a past president of ICC Orange Empire Chapter and serves on the board of California Building Officials organization, and is an adjunct instructor at Santiago Community College teaching building codes and infrastructure management and maintenance.
Michael A. DuRee, Fire Chief, City of Long Beach – Fire Dept.
With nearly two decades of service to the Long Beach Fire Department, Mike DuRee is recognized as a leader in the field of fire and emergency services. Chief DuRee is a 5th generation City of Long Beach employee and a 4th generation Firefighter in Long Beach. Serving the Long Beach community since 1994, DuRee has a broad understanding and knowledge base on Fire service issues that face our densely populated, urban community. Chief DuRee has a proven record of leadership and strategic planning in the fields of fire suppression, EMS, all hazards emergency response and fire prevention.
Mike’s operational experience includes serving with distinction as a Chief Officer, incident commander, company officer, paramedic and public information officer. Mike has served as a Captain with the Marine Safety Division rescue boat program and public safety dive team member, giving him extensive knowledge of the maritime environment.
Mike and his wife of 12 years, Aimee, along with their daughter Claire have made Long Beach their home for their entire lives. Born and raised in Long Beach, Mike has taken an active role in numerous community groups and local non-profit organizations that seek to improve the quality of life in Long Beach for all residents.
Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and is currently a candidate for his Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis on communication and public relations. Mike is a graduate of Harvard University, Kennedy School of government executive fellowship program for senior executives in State and Local government and has been certified by the State of California as a Public Information Officer for large scale incidents.
Over his career, Chief DuRee has provided strategy, planning, leadership and management advice to international organizations, non-profits, government agencies at all levels, educational institutions and private businesses. Mike has strong ties to the local community and is a recognizable presence throughout the City.
