Bryant L. Francis, C.M.
Long Beach Airport
Originally from Harrisburg, PA, Bryant developed a strong passion for aviation early in life, which included taking private pilot lessons at the age of 14. After graduating from high school and completing a cooperative education assignment at the Harrisburg International Airport, he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach, FL campus, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management. It was during his freshman year that Bryant decided to pursue a career path to become an Airport Director.
Bryant’s 19-year industry career spans positions at now six airport organizations, including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Palm Springs International Airport in California, Wayne County Airport Authority in Detroit, Boise Airport in Idaho and the Shreveport Airport Authority in Louisiana. Each position provided career growth and, collectively, formed a strong foundation to build upon within the industry. These positions have included responsibilities in the functions of airport operations, marketing, media & community relations, air service development, properties, inflight catering, office administration, and overall airport leadership at the Director level. In Fall 2014, Bryant was unanimously selected by the City of Long Beach as its new Director of the Long Beach Airport, and began work in January 2015. Bryant is responsible for managing and directing the operations of a diverse and active small hub airport, and oversees the execution of a $30M operating budget with a total staff of over 100.
Bryant is very active in industry organizations including the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) as well as Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA). He previously served as Chair of ACI-NA’s Commercial Management Committee, and was officially appointed to the ACI-NA Board of Directors in September 2014. Bryant also began a 3-year term as Chair of AAAE’s Diversity Committee in May 2014. He is a Certified Member of AAAE’s Accredited Airport Executive Program, and serves on various local boards and committees.
